Coffee-Rubbed, Spicy, Candied Bacon

Bacon is amazing.  Coffee is amazing.  Sweetness with little spice is amazing.

Combine them all and you have something out of this world! 

That's why this is the first recipe we decided to share out of our newly established "Salty Sailor Coffee Company Test Galley!"  For any of our landlubber fans, kitchens of ships are called galleys...so we don't have a test kitchen, we have a test galley!

This amazing recipe is something you have to try yourself to understand just how well the flavors blend together to melt into your mouth in a sweet, spicy, & savory bite of deliciousness.  You don't want to miss out - and your "crew" is sure to appreciate your effort.  You don't have to tell them how simple it really is!  

INGREDIENTS

  8 thick-cut bacon slices

  6 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar

  2 teaspoons ground coffee beans

  ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

  Hot sauce to taste - we used a tablespoon of Revved Up's Pineapple Bomb

DIRECTIONS

  Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F. Arrange bacon on a wire rack set inside a    rimmed baking sheet.

  Step 2: Stir together sugar, ground coffee, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl; sprinkle half of the mixture over bacon.

  Step 3: Bake until sugar bubbles, about 18 minutes.

  Step 4: Flip bacon; sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture. Return to oven; bake at 375°F until bacon is crisp and caramelized, about 15 minutes.

  Step 5: Let cool 15 minutes.

  Step 6: Serve and watch your crew's love grow for you with each bite!
