Salty Sailor Supporting Sailors: The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society

Here at Salty Sailor Coffee Company, we donate 5% of every sale to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. Giving back is in our blood, and as a veteran-owned and operated business, we truly believe in their mission to offer financial and educational assistance to members of the Navy and Marine Corps, their families, and survivors.

Established in 1904 with the funds raised from the 1903 Army-Navy football game, the society supported widows and enlisted families with $9,500 in funds just in that first year alone (For perspective that's the equivalent of about $250,000 in 2021).

Sailors have always taken care of each other as family and have traditionally “passed the hat” to support shipmates’ widows and children. The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society formalized this relief and allowed the tradition of “passing the hat” to evolve and support modern sailors.

The Society offers financial support for life’s most important challenges, including but not limited to emergency travel, financial education, QALs, or Quick Assistance Loans. Recently, they have added assistance with pet travel to overseas appointments. All loans are zero interest, and the only eligibility requirements are to be in good standing with enough time left on your active military contract to pay back the loan.

We are proud to support the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and hope you’ll join us in supporting their mission!
